Hairdressing Show a real highlight at MSIT

Inspiration, creativity and flair was on display last night as Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) hairdressing students presented their hairdressing show at the Loganlea campus.
Certificate IV Hairdressing students teamed up with Schwarzkopf Professional, de Silva Couture and Corbyz Films to present designs from Inspire by Schwarzkopf Professional Essential Looks Collection.
The themes from the Inspire collection are 'Country Life', 'Eccentric Vintage', 'Gothic Romance' and 'Sculptured.' The hairdressing students are encouraged to take inspiration from the themes and develop their own interpretations and innovations.
MSIT hairdressing teacher Koula Russo said the students had put an enormous amount of work into the show and had created some amazing concepts and designs.
"The students who study Certificate IV in Hairdressing will graduate as specialised professional hairdressers.
"At MSIT we constantly challenge their skills, techniques, knowledge and creativity to ensure they are the best of the best.
"This hairdressing show is part of their Session Stylist competency and emphasises how important it is to develop good relationships with other professionals, such as Schwarzkopf, to ensure ongoing business and professional success," said Ms Russo.
MSIT Institute Director Kaylene Harth said the hairdressing show was just one example of how MSIT prepares students for real life work experiences.
"A big event like a hairdressing show is not only a chance to display students' skills and have fun but also an opportunity to work in a professional setting.
"In all our programs at MSIT we teach students the practical skills and knowledge that make it possible to start work on day one or step up to a more challenging role," said Ms Harth.
