Certificate III & IV in Music Business
The dual Certificate III & IV in Music Business is a great way for those passionate about music to gain skills needed to work in the industry.

To work successfully in the music industry you need to know about all aspects of music business. Understanding music is not enough! This nationally accredited program will give you the skills to be savvy in the music business world. Students will learn the a range of skills that encompass the theory and practice of work in the music industry and then gain hands on practical experience assisting with the management of the student business Urchin Entertainment, in a series of real life scenarios and tasks.

The course acts as an incubator for students to gain practical experience in working in a music business environment. Students will experience basic business skills, copyright and contract information, music promotion, blogging, web maintenance, event management and much more.

Students will be given access to digital learning tools such as a class forum board to assist their learning and networking and participate in career planning and management using a cutting edge ePortfolio tool.

Entry Requirements Applicants must fill in a questionnaire to be eligible for the course. Go to http://urchinentertainment.com/wordpress/courses/application/ to access the online form. Students who have previously studied Music at VET or University level must prove successful completion of their course before being eligible for Cert IV Music Industry (Business).

Students under 17 years of age must meet enrolment requirements as specified in the Education (General Provisions Act) 2006.
Program Duration 1 year
Program Articulation Students who have previously completed either the Cert II in Music Industry Foundation, Cert III in Music Industry, Cert III Music Industry (Business) or other practical music courses will be able to add useful and specific music business skills to their knowledge base.
Start Dates February and July
How to apply Applicants must fill in a questionnaire to be eligible for the course. Go to http://urchinentertainment.com/wordpress/courses/application/ click on the 'application questions' link at the bottom of the page and save the document. Complete the questionnaire and return via email to course co-ordinator Andrea Smith at andrea.smith@deta.qld.gov.au. Also email Andrea for more information about the course. Successful applicants will be notified and sent an enrolment package for the course.

Cost The cost of this program may vary depending on the individual courses nominated per semester. Concession rates are available for holders of current concession cards presented at point of enrolment. Tuition fees do not include any materials or textbooks that may be required. Costs are subject to change without notice. The costs given are approximate.

If you will have difficulty meeting the full cost of the program at enrolment it may be possible to negotiate an instalment plan for some programs. Please note your enrolment may be refused if you have either outstanding fees or an overdue debt.
Skills First Skills First (Recognition of Prior Learning) recognises your existing experience gained through life or work which you may not have obtained a formal qualification for. We will work with you to identify your existing skills, and assess if you can then achieve a full or part qualification. This also helps to avoid unnecessary duplication of training, saving you time and money.
Study options We understand how busy your life is already and therefore offer you a variety of study options that give you the flexibility to train when and where you want.
Training can be provided on campus, online, at work or through a combination of all three*. *Please note that not all options are available for each program. Ask a member of the Customer Service team what study options are available for this program.
