About Senior Studies at MSIT
MSIT offers an alternative way of gaining Year 11 and 12 qualifications in a flexible, personal and mature learning environment. This alternative to secondary school studies allows students to achieve a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) in two to three years while keeping their options open for your chosen qualification and Overall Position (OP) score.
A Senior Studies program is an individually designed full-time program that meets the needs, abilities and future goals of students. It will consist of the mentor program plus a selection of QSA Authority, QSA Registered or vocational subjects/programs.
Students and parents will be assisted in designing an appropriate program at interview.
Individually tailored program of study
The MSIT Senior Studies Program offers fully tailored options. Our aim always is to meet your individual needs, abilities and goals. You can mix and match your program with subjects chosen from a broad range of options.
We take the time to meet with each and every student to devise an individually designed program that will connect with your specific talents and interests.
Mentor Program
At MSIT, you will be given the opportunity to become a self-disciplined, independent thinker. You'll be able to make your own decisions about your future.
All students in the Senior Studies program are enrolled in the mentor program designed to prepare all students, regardless of academic ability, for the challenges of studying in the new environment of MSIT.
Through this program students complete the QSA registered subject, Social and Community Studies and are provided with an opportunity to develop the skills to become independent learners and skills that are essential for learning at work or at tertiary institutions.
Get a head start
You will benefit from study in vocational programs and gain certificates that give you a head start on your career.
If a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT) is your goal, we help you design this with the added advantage that you may be able to do both the school and the vocational components at the one campus.
A practical and caring learning environment
You can gain your OP for tertiary entrance through the study of a wide range of Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) subjects.
Your learning is facilitated by a team of highly qualified experts in their field of study and concerned for the welfare of individual students.
If you have not been successful at Year 10, the institute can help you through a literacy and numeracy program.
