Accommodation options
Homestays
This is a popular type of accommodation where students live with a host family and receive three meals a day. You may have to prepare your own breakfast and lunch and help out around the house occasionally. The cost is approximately $170 per week.
Rental accommodation
Both international and Australian students enjoy living in rental accommodation. Prices vary according to the standard and location but as a guide, a two bedroom apartment varies from $175 to $275 per week and a three bedroom house varies from $200 to $300 per week.
Student houses
There's no on-campus accommodation at Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE but there are a range of student houses throughout Brisbane.
You can share amenities with fellow students but have the privacy of your own room by staying in a student house. Some student houses require you to cook your own meals but will have your bed linen and cooking utensils supplied. In addition, there is usually no bond or lease required.
The cost varies from approximately $80 to $180 a week, depending on the accommodation house and its facilities/services and the length of stay.

Personal counselling is available to help you resolve personal problems affecting your study and progress. This may include possible challenges of living in a new country, relationship difficulties, your personal welfare or harassment issues.
