University pathways

A university pathway, degree pathway and pathway courses refers to a path or sequence of learning or experience that can be followed to provide alternative access to university courses.

Pathways may be formal such as dual qualifications, or informal such as credit agreements or advanced standing agreements with universities. Pathways don't guarantee you a place at university unless you been accepted into a dual diploma/degree program through QTAC.

Direct to university

Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) offers combined diploma/degree courses that save you time and money on your degree.

These programs are available for application through QTAC and allow you to study for a diploma through TAFE first, then transfer into second-year University.

These university pathways provide you with credit for your TAFE study, usually equivalent to at least a year, allowing you to graduate with two qualifications in the same time it would take to complete your degree.

You also save on a whole year's HECS-HELP fees, which can save you up to $5000.

Best of all your diploma study provides you with the practical skills employers look for, giving you an edge in today's competitive job market.

By choosing clever university pathways, you can even choose to get a head start on your career upon completion of your diploma by getting a job in your chosen industry while you complete your degree.
